Hi, I'm Maggie, founder of Calm Her Mind Psychiatry.
I'm a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner with a passion for helping women feel seen, supported, and empowered in their mental health journey. My path to psychiatry was shaped by both professional experience and person lived reality-- and Calm Her Mind was born from both.
I earned my Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Austin and my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington, after completing a Bachelor's degree in English Literature. My early nursing career was spent in high-stakes environments--working in pediatric and neonatal intensive care units, where I learned the value of precision, compassion, and presence under pressure.
As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I've had the privilege of working in community mental health, private practice, and now serve as Head of the Psychiatry Department at Momentous Institute in Dallas, TX. Across these settings, I've witnessed how deeply women's mental health is affected not just by symptoms, but by systems, silence, and stigma.
That's something I know firsthand.
I was diagnosed with ADHD as a child, but I resisted medication for years--and suffered as a result. I've also experienced trauma that led to a diagnosis of PTSD, and while my healing wasn't instant, it was real. Through EMDR therapy, lifestyle changes, and eventually the right medication, I was able to reclaim my focus, emotional stability, and sense of self.
That's why I created Calm Her Mind: to offer the kind of psychiatry I wish I had access to--personalized, compassionate, judgment-free care for women navigating the complex intersections of ADHD, anxiety, trauma and hormonal transitions.
If you're feeling overwhelmed, misunderstood, or like you're "too much and not enough" at the same time--I want you to know you're not alone. And you're not broken. You're just ready to be supported.
Let's calm your mind, together.
